There are wonderful museums, boat excursions and zoos in the Long Beach area. Each venue listed below has field trips for school age children in addition to family visits.


Aquarium of the Pacific

This major aquarium in Long Beach has something for everyone.   It is a massive waterfront Aquarium with multiple exhibits both indoors and outdoors.  Children love the penguins, seals, sharks and the many birds. In addition to being a world class aquarium, there are cultural events around the year held at the aquarium.

There are field trips organized throughout the year for school groups as well as camps. The aquarium also a traveling aquarium on wheels which brings a mobile tidepool on the road.

This museum is dedicated to contemporary (modern) Latin American Art.    

Long Beach Parks, Gardens, and Nature Experiences

There are several significant gardens including botanical gardens in the Long Beach area. There are also incredible outdoor and nature experiences in Long Beach.

This Japanese Garden is on the Campus of Cal State University, Long Beach.
There is a fee for admission and it is not open every day of the week.  Please call ahead. 

Rancho Los Cerritos

There is an incredible garden with an artificial stream.  There is also amazing palms, farm animals to view.
