There are a number of book awards each year for the best children's books.
Every Year there are major awards given out recognizing amazing new books. The most famous of the awards is the Newbery Award. There is also the Caldecott award which focuses on illustrations. There are also an array of other awards given out each years such as the Coretta Scott King Award which gives honor to books that celebrate peace and brotherhood.
