Elverhoj Museum of History & Art
Elverhøj Museum tells the story of Solvang's Danish American community inside a hand-built house modeled on eighteenth-century Danish farm architecture. Artist Viggo Brandt-Erichsen and his wife Martha Mott built the residence beginning in the 1950s, using carved woodwork and traditional decorative details; it later became a community museum. Old Mission Santa Ines
Old Mission Santa Inés was founded in 1804, the nineteenth of California's Spanish missions, near the Chumash village of Soxtonokmu'. The mission's church, museum rooms, gardens and cemetery preserve parts of a colonial complex that served as a religious and agricultural center. A Chumash revolt in 1824 began here and spread to other missions, making the site essential for understanding Indigenous resistance rather than only mission architecture. Nojoqui Falls Park offers a short walk to a seasonal waterfall that drops over a fern-covered sandstone and shale cliff south of Solvang. The shaded canyon supports vegetation very different from exposed Santa Ynez Valley hills, so elementary students can compare moisture, temperature and plant cover along the trail.
